Rosalina & Phoebe

A sad, little desk and an ugly chair met in my workshop. Maggie named the desk "Rosalina." I named the chair "Phoebe."
They became fast friends.  And decided to get a makeover together.
Rosalina is a little more girly than Phoebe.  She got new jewelry and a shiny glass top.
Phoebe just sits there and makes a statement.

Somehow, it just all works together.
BFFs. MFEO.  (Best Friends Forever, Made For Each Other.)  FOR SALE - CCS Auction, April 13. :)

Lea's Story

A friend of mine gave this dresser to me. It was her childhood bedroom furniture and then her daughter's, but they no longer needed it, so she thought I could do something fun with it and donate it to the CCS auction.
The "before" picture is actually after I did a little bit of work on it - I filled in a floral design that was on the top two drawers. I just wasn't feeling the floral.
And this is what she became.
I have always called the furniture I'm working on by a name. Weird, I know. But it's what I do. I was having a hard time naming this one...and then she sort of named herself. It's right there - already tattooed on. "Lea."  She's one of the Bedroom People. :)  But I think she would be happy anywhere...a family room, living room, game room...
And there's a little surprise in each drawer. I love elephants and giraffes.
This was Lea's inspiration. I have had these tin hot air balloons for years and they've been in my storage room for quite awhile. I just never had the heart to take them to Goodwill. They'll go with Lea to her new home to keep her company.
She makes me happy.
I hope she gets to live somewhere really fun.

Wilhemena, Desdemona and Annalise.

I have been churning out furniture from my workshop to get ready for the CCS auction. I'm trying to get everything done early, because Scott is going to India the week before the auction (a topic for another blog post) and I have a feeling things will be getting nuts around here. Anyway, I decided these chairs needed to be together. One just looked so lonely. They were a little sad looking, too.
So, I gave them a makeover and named them Wilhemena and Desdemona. And their little friend is Annalise.
It's a different table than the one in the "before" picture, but I decided I liked that table enough to keep it.
Coral and navy are "hot" colors right now, so I thought I'd give a little shot of color to the tabletop. It was too much, so I sanded quite a bit of it off, and now it's just right. (Kind of like Goldilocks and the three bears...)
They can be yours if you want them. The auction is April 13 in Willmar. You can stay with me if you come. :)
I think they would look lovely in an entryway. Maybe mine...

A few projects

Our school auction is coming up, so my workshop has been busy. I'm working on quite a bit of furniture, but I like doing a few smaller things, too. This was an old cupboard door that my neighbor gave to me. I decided it needed to be a wall hanging. It will go on the silent auction with a "coffee gift basket..." However, I don't drink coffee, so I'm wondering what to include in that. Ideas?

This is a little something Maggie and I whipped up a while back - vintage sheet music garland. It was sitting in a rubbermaid tub, so I decided to pass it on.

Still to come...a seating group with two chairs and a small table; a dresser; a desk and chair; and a nightstand. I actually took "before" pictures this time. :) Progress.
