Updates and more updates...

I need a new computer. So, I tried blogging from Grandma's. Got all my pictures downloaded, had my blog mostly written and I couldn't move the pictures anywhere. So, now I am once again at home, trying to finish it up. (That's my excuse for being so blog-lazy lately anyway.)

So, here we go. We had a visit from the cousins a few weekends ago. Fun, fun and more fun. We played and did crafts.
Painted birdhouses...Luke deemed his "splendid."

We also played with "magic beans." You get them a little bit wet and they stick together to make all kinds of wonderful creations.
It was a great weekend.

Jake also competed in his first swim meet. He had a GREAT time - his new motto is "eat my bubbles" which one of the coaches wrote on his back.
We left after his events were over so we didn't find out his places until a few days later - FIRST and FIFTH!! He got 1st in the 50-yard backstroke and 5th in the 50-yard freestyle (crawl). We are so proud of him!!
In mid-May, Scott competed in his first race of the season- a duathlon. Run 2.5 miles, bike 17 miles, run 2.5 miles. (Yuck.) He did great and is looking forward to doing several more races this summer. In fact, I picked him up just a few miles from Mom and Dad's today on our way home - he biked 52 miles to meet us. Makes my butt hurt just thinking about it.
We also were able to celebrate (very, very late) Scott's birthday with his dear friend, Deane Fahlberg from South Dakota. Scott has been celebrating his birthday with Deane since he was 3. His mom asked him who he wanted to have over for his birthday for a sleepover (thinking some other 3-year olds...) and he picked Deane. They haven't missed a year since.
Last week, I got to go on a field trip to Pioneer Village in Montevideo with Jake. We got to dance the polka (this is Jake and his teacher).
We also got in on a blacksmith demonstration...very smoky and very hot.
Got to see an old fashioned printing press and all sorts of other fun things.
Unfortunately, the most excitement of the day happened when one of the elderly volunteers collapsed and his heart stopped. Thankfully, one of the dads who chaperoned is a doctor and was able to get his heart started again before the ambulance arrived. Yikes. A little more than the 2nd graders had anticipated!

And most recently, we went on a kitty hunt. Jake and Maggie are getting new kittens from Uncle Dan in a couple of weeks, but the mother moved them and they cannot be found. He lives very close to town, so she may have moved them to someone's house. We made posters that Grandma is going to take to the post office, bank and restaurant in Lowry this week.
Whew. And those are just the highlights. Now, we're jackhammering out our sidewalk and front steps, replanting all of the landscaping we have in the front of our house, smashing all of the brick off with a hammer and getting ready for a major facelift project. Got my garden planted, all of the trim and doors inside the house caulked and repainted and more wedding stuff done. I told Scott I am overcommitted, overtired and overwhelmed. He was unimpressed. My new motto is "No time like the present." Unfortunately, that has not extended to my laundry, dishes or blogging, but I will try to be better.

Auction

We recently wrapped up the CCS Auction and Family Carnival. A huge undertaking that raises a lot of money for our school. It was a great day!

I Know A Noah

The kids had their annual "Operetta" a few weeks ago. It was called "The Promise Cruise" and was all about Noah. Jake and Maggie were in the choir (the 6th graders do the speaking parts each year) and each grade was a different color, creating a rainbow on stage. It was very cute.

This is how Jake felt about all the singing:

Maggie enjoyed it a little bit more.

I am very thankful for our school and what my kids are learning every day!
